Mae Sot's roads were jammed with vehicles from Myanmar seeking to refill their tanks, as oil prices in Myawaddy soared to 70 baht per litre. Local stations on the Thai side saw heavy traffic after power and oil cuts in Myanmar.

The border town of Mae Sot in Tak saw its roads congested, mostly with vehicles from Myawaddy, seeking to refill their tanks after oil prices in the Myanmar border city skyrocketed to around 70 baht per litre.

The local Facebook page, titled Today in Mae Sot, reported that the main road in Mae Sot was heavily congested on Tuesday morning, as vehicles from Myawaddy crossed the First Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge to refill their petrol at stations on the Thai side.

After Thailand cut electricity and oil supplies to five Myanmar border areas on February 5, only large petrol stations in Myawaddy remained operational.

It was reported that the petrol stations in Myawaddy were now open for only one hour per day, with the price of petrol raised to 70 baht per litre and the price of diesel oil rising to 71 baht per litre as of Tuesday morning.

A local resident also posted on his Facebook wall that a PTT station on the Moei River bank was crowded with vehicles from Myanmar on Tuesday morning.
