Nearly 100 dolphins dance through Vietnam's Nha Trang Bay
A rare pod of dolphins migrated through Nha Trang Bay in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam on Sunday, creating a spectacular scene as they glided in graceful lines and surfaced in unison, appearing to perform a natural ballet.
The moment was captured by locals and widely shared on social media.
The intelligent pod swam just 50 meters from a local fishing boat, offering a breathtaking performance over the turquoise waters of Nha Trang Bay and signaling the strong recovery of the bay's marine ecosystem.
According to the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, a group of fishermen near Hon Dung spotted a pod of about 100 dolphins migrating through the bay that afternoon.
Van, a resident of Nha Trang City, recorded the dolphins swimming in a flowing line and surfacing rhythmically as if dancing, and shared the video online, drawing widespread attention.
Dam Hai Van, head of the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, remarked that the dolphins' appearance reflects positive signs of environmental recovery in the area.
This is not the first time dolphins have been seen in Khanh Hoa's coastal waters. They had appeared in large numbers in 2020 and 2022.
Dolphins are highly intelligent and friendly marine mammals, measuring from 1.2 to 9.5 meters in length and weighing between 40 kilograms and 10 tonnes.
They typically live in shallow waters, travel in groups from a few dozen to several hundred, and are well-known for rescuing people in distress at sea.
