Kumamoto Castle in Kumamoto's Chuo Ward, Still under Repair Work, Partially Opens to Public for 1st Time since Quake


     A 6.5-magnitude foreshock on April 14 and the 7.3-magnitude main temblor two days later, both of which registered the highest intensity level of 7 on the Japanese scale in Kumamoto Prefecture, killed tens of people, injured more than 1,000 and severely damaged houses, industries and social infrastructure including roads and railway lines in Kumamoto and other parts of Kyushu.
