Japan's Industrial Output Falls 0.9 Pct in April

Tokyo, May 30 (Jiji Press)--Japan's industrial production in April fell 0.9 pct from the previous month, the first decline in three months, the industry ministry said Friday.
The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 101.5 against the 2020 base of 100, losing ground mainly on a drop in manufacturing equipment exports, according to preliminary data.
Industrial production is fluctuating "indecisively," the ministry said.
Production declined in six of the 15 sectors surveyed.
The production machinery sector suffered a drop of 8.7 pct, hurt by a decrease in exports of manufacturing equipment for video devices like thin liquid crystal displays.
