Japan's Job Availability Ratio Flat at 1.26 in April

Tokyo, May 30 (Jiji Press)--Japan's seasonally adjusted effective job availability ratio in April came to 1.26, unchanged from the previous month, the labor ministry said Friday.
The ratio represents the number of job offers per job seeker registered at Hello Work public job placement offices nationwide.
The number of effective job seekers increased 0.2 pct, with more people searching for jobs to cover higher living expenses reflecting ongoing inflation. That of effective job openings also rose, by 0.3 pct, amid labor shortages.
Before seasonal adjustment, new job openings grew 2.2 pct year on year. Job offers soared in the telecommunications industry, while the ongoing World Exposition in the western city of Osaka led to an increase in job openings in the service industries, including security service.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in April also remained flat month on month, at 2.5 pct, according to a survey released by the internal affairs ministry the same day.
