MANILA, Philippines — Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) and Globe Telecom Inc. of the Ayala Group landed on TIME Magazine’s list of the world's 500 most sustainable companies, the only Philippine firms to make the grade.

Globe was 451st overall while ALI was 486th.

The two companies were recognized alongside other global firms for their efforts in integrating sustainability into their corporate strategies.

French energy management company Schneider Electric topped the list for the second year in a row, specifically because it provided digital services while supplying renewable energy to others.

TIME noted that these two characteristics were the common denominator among many of the companies that ranked high on the list.
