Hanoi prepares for massive National Day parade with 40,000 participants
Around 40,000 people are expected to take part in Vietnam’s National Day parade on September 2, marking the 80th anniversary of the country’s independence.
Tran Sy Thanh, chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the organizing committee for the 80th anniversary celebrations of the August Revolution and Vietnam’s National Day.
Pham Xuan Tai, deputy director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, reported that the commemorative parade will take place on the morning of September 2 at Ba Dinh Square and surrounding areas in downtown Hanoi.
The organizing committee said that approximately 40,000 participants, including guests, civilians, parade forces, and support staff, are expected to partake in the event.
To prepare for the large-scale event, the Vietnamese capital will decorate and operate vehicles carrying the national emblem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, a portrait of late President Ho Chi Minh, a model representing 80 years of independence, and many others.
Authorities are also drawing up detailed security and traffic control plans to ensure safety, including strategies for fire prevention, emergency response, and the prevention of protests or disturbances.
Besides, 612 portable toilets will be installed near Ba Dinh Square to accommodate the large crowds.
The city plans to install 30,000 seats, four large LED screens, and extensive decorations at the main stage.
Additionally, 400 street loudspeakers and five public speaker clusters will be deployed along the parade routes for announcements and coordination.
Chairman Thanh praised the early preparations and urged all agencies to finalize plans promptly, drawing on lessons from past events.
He also called for attentive hospitality toward guests and top-level security measures.
The city's chairman demanded that a finalized plan for the event be issued by June 15.
