Vietnamese citizens in Israel, Iran urged to depart for third countries to return home
Vietnamese citizens currently residing in Israel and Iran have been advised to relocate to safer areas or travel to third countries in order to return home amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, according to Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry said in a Sunday statement it has been closely coordinating with domestic agencies and Vietnamese diplomatic missions in Israel, Iran, and nearby regions to monitor the situation, activate emergency response plans, and ensure the safety of citizens and diplomatic staff.
So far, no casualties involving Vietnamese citizens have been reported in either Israel or Iran, according to Vietnam's embassies in those countries.
As of Sunday, the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran, in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, had helped 18 citizens safely relocate to a third country and return to Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Israel, with support from the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, has also evacuated 33 citizens from Israel, some of whom have already returned home.
The ministry urged remaining citizens in Israel and Iran to move to safer areas or travel to third countries from which they can return to Vietnam.
Diplomatic missions will remain in close contact with Vietnamese nationals, gather their needs and requests, and stand ready to carry out further evacuation or support plans in the coming days.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed its embassies to maintain regular contact with citizens, closely monitor local developments, and issue frequent safety advisories.
Citizens are urged to remain calm, exercise caution, strictly follow local authorities’ safety guidelines, and stay updated with alerts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam’s embassies in Israel and Iran.
