Japan's Job Availability Ratio Dips to 1.24
Tokyo, June 27 (Jiji Press)--Japan's seasonally adjusted job availability ratio dipped 0.02 point to 1.24 in May from the previous month, the first decline in three months, the labor ministry said Friday.
The drop came as people have increasingly been looking for jobs because of an increase in the cost of living.
The ratio represents the number of jobs available to an applicant at Hello Work public employment security offices across the country.
The number of effective job seekers rose 1.5 pct and that of effective job offers was up 0.3 pct.
The internal affairs ministry separately said that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 2.5 pct in May.
