1.2-magnitude quake recorded in Chiang Mai on Wednesday morning

Nine mild earthquakes were recorded in Myanmar and northern Thailand on Wednesday (April 23), with magnitudes ranging from 1.2 to 3.3, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.

The Earthquake Observation Division of the department stated that one of these earthquakes, with a magnitude of 1.2 and a depth of 1 kilometer, occurred in Chiang Mai province at 1:28 a.m. on Wednesday.

The division reported that the epicenter was located at latitude 18.552° North and longitude 98.725° East, in Santi Suk subdistrict of Chiang Mai’s Doi Lo district.The strongest quake on Wednesday, with a magnitude of 3.3 and a depth of 10 kilometers, was recorded at 6:23 a.m. in Myanmar, about 283 kilometers northwest of Mae Hong Son province.

There have been no reports of property damage or casualties at the time of reporting.
